Overview
Until relatively recently the process of innovation has been seen as a
somewhat haphazard process starting with bright ideas and finishing with
successful marketed products.
It was thought of as fundamentally creative and un-plannable by the
people involved in it, and incomprehensible by the people who interface
with it.
Whether it be a new product, process, service, software,
organisational strategy or policy that is being developed, it is
increasingly being realised that the fundamental process is very similar.
This realisation has come about particularly with the advent of quality
management in the last decade, with its emphasis on predictable processes
as ensuring better outcomes.
